Manhattan Beach PRP Hair Therapy
What Is PRP for hair loss?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy for hair loss is a three-step medical treatment in which a person’s blood is drawn, processed, and then injected into the scalp.
When injected into the scalp, PRP increases blood flow to the hair follicles, stimulates some new hair growth, and lengthens the anagen (active) growth phase of existing hair, to slow hair loss, if you are a good candidate and have dormant follicles to rejuvenate.
Restore Your Confidence with PRP Hair Treatments
Hair loss can truly affect one’s self-esteem, whether male or female. It also causes the person suffering from hair loss to look much older than their actual age. It affects millions of people from all walks of life all over the world. At Aesthetics on Highland, we pride ourselves in giving quality care and attention to hair restoration of our clients.
Nearly 40 million Americans are affected by hair loss and the causes range from nutritional disorders to hormonal imbalances as well as ageing, thyroid issues and polycystic ovarian syndrome. A hair loss expert can help you determine what the best route would be to start rehabilitating your hair growth. Sometimes it can begin with your diet and other times more in-depth attention is required.
What to expect during treatment:
Your practitioner will perform a blood draw and the blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the plasma and concentrated platelets.
A topical numbing agent will be applied to the scalp for 15 minutes and then the scalp will be cleansed before the procedure.
The injections have minimal discomfort with a feeling of pressure at the injection site.
With PRP alone, the plasma is injected into the specified areas. If adding exosomes, micro-needle stamping will be used as exosomes cannot be injected. This procedure takes about 15 minutes.
What is the downtime for PRP?
After your treatment, you can expect tenderness in the treated area for up to 48 hours. Do not wash your hair until the following day. If you wish to wear a hat after treatment, you will be given a sterile pad to place between your scalp and hat. No hair dyes or darkening sprays one week before and after treatment.
How many treatments are necessary?
Three to six treatments performed once per month are necessary for hair growth depending on the severity of hair loss in addition to one treatment every four months to maintain your results.
